Bolton academy to have interactive 3D performance spaces...
Kognitiv were a key partner when Kier Education won the contract for two new Bolton academies after presenting a set of proposals for the Essa Academy which included an innovative and flexible building design, upgraded sports areas and 3D performance spaces.
Essa Academy is also making a name for itself by ensuring its pupils have access to the latest technology. It hit the headlines recently when it became the first school to provide pupils with an iPod to ensure they can learn "anytime, anywhere". This, coupled with extra lessons at Bolton Wanderers study support centre, is helping many pupils prepare to sit their exams earlier in years nine and 10.
A new multi-million pound development is now on the cards Headteacher Showk Badat said: "We have been given an opportunity of a lifetime to shape the future for our young people and the community we live in. I am proud to be part of the Bolton Family to make this opportunity a stunning reality."
Work on the £18 million building scheme is to start in April and scheduled for completion in October, 2011 and the development will be a mix of two and three storeys.
Classrooms will be replaced by open plan learning areas to create maximum flexibility and features of the new development will include a 3D audio visual theatre, modern sports facilities and writable glass walls to replace standard classroom whiteboards.
